How to Take Care of Your Synthetic Wig (No Fuss Guide)
Wearing a synthetic wig is fun — you get to switch up your look without breaking the bank. But just like your favorite shoes or jacket, your wig needs a little love to stay looking fresh. At Hair Site, we’ve made it super easy to keep your wig looking brand new without stress.
Let’s break it down:
1. Brush It the Right Way
When brushing your wig, avoid forcefully attempting to detangle it from the top. That’ll only mess things up. For my Synthetic Wigs, it is general knowledge that using a wide-tooth comb works well. Hopefully, everyone knows that you have to comb from the bottom to the roots, if you didn’t know, now you do. It keeps the strands in place and helps avoid pulling. Some People suggested using Unbrush, I haven’t tried it yet.
I recently discovered the detangling Spray from Hair Anatomy, which I spray before combing. This is a game changer and It makes the job smoother and way less annoying.
2. Wash It When It Starts Feeling Off
Don’t go overboard with washing. If the wig still looks nice and moves well, no need to touch it. Only wash it after a few wears — maybe 5 to 7 times — or when it starts looking tired.
Let it dry naturally. No dryers. If it’s heat-safe, you can restyle later using low heat (up to 180°C), but only after it’s totally dry.
3. Pack It Away the Smart Way
When you're not using the wig, don’t just throw it on your chair or in a random bag. I personally use a wig storage bag, which is great to hang in my wardrobe, and perfect for travelling, it keeps the shape nice and stops it from picking up dust or bending weirdly.
4. Keep It Fresh Without Washing
Not every dull day needs a full wash. Some days, the wig just needs a little pick-me-up. Spray a bit of wig conditioning mist, brush through, and that’s it — you're good to go.
